rice flour - 2 cups
salted butter - 1tbsp(room temp)
peanuts - 4tbsp, roast and grind coarsely
chana dal - 2tbsp, soak for 30 min
curry leaves - 2 string, finely chopped
green chilli paste - 1tsp
salt - 1tsp or as per taste
warm water - 3/4 cup or as required
oil - for deep fry
Method:
1) Mix flour and all the ingredients well.
2) Make a soft dough with the help of required water.
3) Make a small lemon size round balls out of the dough.4) Take any small bowl whose base is flat enough to press the ball in a round shape.
5) Take a soft plastic cover or ziplock cover. Spread the plastic cover on a bowl and apply little oil .
6) Take the small balls of the dough and press with your fingers.If your fingers are sticky then dip the fingers in water for every ball.
7) You can make these chekkalu on a roti maker by putting plastic sheet.
Heat oil in a deep skillet and when oil is hot, add 2-3 at a time.
8) Fry until both sides turn golden color. Remove from oil and cool
Store in an airtight jar.
